Relaunching Rooted Spices

Easter is a time of optimism and rebirth, so what better time to launch Rooted V2.0?! We’re back with a bang: new tins, new spices and a new fulfilment centre in Durham.

It took a little longer than planned – and I remain so grateful to everyone for their patience and ever apologetic to anyone who struggled through a bland and unseasoned meal as a result of the delay.

It’s not the easiest climate for small businesses to operate in, and we had a unique curve ball in the form of a rogue shipment of tins. Having spent a month tracking the wrong vessel we then discovered that our ship had been subjected to ‘port rotation’ and went on a lengthy diversion round the Baltic until finally arriving at Felixstowe. Still, nice to know that the tins have seen so much of the world – it feels positively exotic when we haven’t left Hackney for so many months!

(Welcome to my computer screen between January-February, as I slowly lost my mind in a Battleship-like-haze). Still, what a happy surprise, when, out of the blue on a Friday morning in March I got a call from our freight forwader saying that the tins had arrived safely.

They headed straight up north to our new fulfilment centre in Durham where they were speedily filled by Carol and her team, while we finished work on the website. Finally, everything has come together and we can’t wait for you to see the new tins and also try some of our new lines: ancho chilli powder (killer in a chili con carne) and ras el hanout (transforms even the simplest chicken tray bake). We’re positive it was all worth the wait and hope you agree!
