Bircher is the quickest way to load up on slow-release carbs. If you make it the night before then it couldn’t be speedier to wolf down a bowl before hot-footing it out of the house. Not only nutritious, but super delicious – and while it’s pricey to buy a little Pret pot of bircher it’s pennies to make it yourself.
Bircher Muesli with Grated Apple + True Cinnamon
1tbsp runny honey
2 x apples, peeled, cored and grated
¼ lemon, juiced
2tbsp flaked almonds, toasted
¼tsp Rooted Spices True Cinnamon
Tip the oats, milk, sultanas and honey into a sealable pot (a Tupperware or empty ice cream tub is great), put them in the fridge and leave them to soak overnight.
The next morning, stir in the apples and lemon.
Top with flaked almonds and a generous pinch of True Cinnamon.
