Broccoli + Nutmeg Bagel

This is a quick swiz of a teatime – but I think it’s a great example of how a quick dash of spice can help encourage your toddler to move away from plain flavours and embrace new tastes.


3 small broccoli florets
1 bagel, halved
50g cream cheese


Put the broccoli florets into boiling water, and reduce to a simmer until cooked and tender (3-5 minutes, size dependent).
Meanwhile, toast the bagel.
Once the broccoli is cooked, cut it into small pieces and then mix it with the cream cheese – the residual water will loosen the cream cheese to an easy-spreading consistency – and season it with a generous amount of fresh nutmeg.
