Golden milk is a soothing and caffeine-free alternative to tea or coffee. If you’ve been put-off by a bitter and astringent version in the past then do give it a second chance using our Golden Blend – the turmeric is so fresh and the cinnamon is so naturally sweet it’s sure to convert sceptics. Do get creative trying different milk varieties and a milk frother to create a latte feel. Please note, the recipe doesn’t include peppercorns (unlike many Haldi Doodh recipes), because the Golden Blend already contains ground peppercorns.
Golden Milk (aka Haldi Doodh)
1 tbsp Rooted Golden Blend
Freshly grated Rooted nutmeg, to taste
1 tsp honey (or to taste)
1 tsp coconut oil (optional)
Pour the milk into a saucepan, add the Golden Blend, nutmeg and cardamom pods and heat – until piping hot, but not boiling.
Remove the pan from the heat, cover and leave for a couple of minutes for all the flavours to infuse into the milk.
Stir in the honey and coconut oil, if using.
Sieve the Golden Milk into mugs and enjoy.
