“I STILL THINK I SHOULD COME” CLARA SAID LAST MONDAY.
I’d lined up a meeting with a friend who worked in marketing, for the afternoon of Wednesday 30 May.
He had promised to give us some pointers.
I had promised that she wouldn’t go into labour.
“Why don’t you put your feet up?” I suggested – knowing that Clara’s ‘nesting’ had mainly involved pawing over our financials, and that her sizable bump really was getting too big to lug round London.
Wednesday crept up, and we still hadn’t come to any resolution.
Then, a message over breakfast: “Just to let you know Clara gave birth to a beautiful baby girl this morning.” – and so the fourth Spice Girl joined the team. Welcome, darling Olive!
“Counting you out of the marketing meeting this afternoon then.” I pinged over, later that day.
To the singular response: “LOL”.
